During this year's "Spring Night Out" parents and students were invited to take a stroll through the garden. The garden was decorated with beautiful string lights and other garden friendly decor. Special thanks to Mrs. Despreaux and Mrs. Stettner, members the the garden committee, who volunteered their time after school to decorate for the family friendly event.
We are busy getting the garden beds ready for spring planting. Mrs. El-Zahr and Miss Depreaux's classes cleaned up the garden beds while Mrs. Simila`s Class began weeding some of the flower beds. The children were busy uprooting plants, weeding, and loosening the soil. Valley View School is excited to start planting in May.
Upon return from the summer break, Mrs. El-Zahr and Mrs. Pearl's students helped to harvest 15lbs of produce from our school garden it's first year of implementation. These fresh crops were donated to the Open Cupboard Food Pantry in Clinton, NJ.
Special thanks to all families in our community, friends, and Valley View Staff members who volunteered throughout the summer months to weed, water, and tend to our garden.
